You’re achievements are an inspiration. I’m sure you hear that crap all the time, but it doesn’t make it less true. You’ll be happy to know you’re not the only one that likes to do canyons fast (though maybe not as fast!). There’s a few of us on “Bogley” that are trying to put together some kind of informal canyoneering race. If you’re interested, you should chime in. It would be great to get your input. Pfieferhorn, from Red Pine Lake route….66:10. Ha, but it was way back about 15 years ago.

Red Pine Lake only. 32:25 from White Pine TH

Olympus South trail, (main route) 57:19 to summit. Jogged down easy.1:35 ish RT.

Lone Peak saddle on Bells Canyon. 5hr, 31 min RT from my house.

That’s all I got, but I recall back in the day running Grandeur Peak in 34 min and change multiple times from the road.

Hi David,

You’re too kind. Yes, it’s a total bummer that Sportiva is discontinuing the Fireblade. I consider it to be the most versatile shoe around and I’m often laughed at for the extremely wide array of activities that I use them for. I ran the Wasatch 100 2 weeks ago in a brand new pair, right out of the box. They fit my foot so well that I never have any issues. I’ll be trying to stock up on a few pairs as well. There are some new shoes coming out in 2012 that look to be very promising….

Jared – your mastery of Mount Olympus is AMAZING!! I have watched it several times and have shared it with countless others. I am a huge fan of the Sportiva Fireblade (especially in Orange!!) and your slabs run is the best commercial on earth for what those shoes can do (if on the feet of a great athlete) – great torsional support on a low to the ground racing flat for great trail and “scree” running, sticky rubber minimal lugs for the great “climbing” that you are doing and even the “skiing” that you are doing down the mountain works via the shallow minimal outsole lugging – don’t think you would have such a smooth ride on most trail running shoes with deep lugs. La Sportiva isn’t going forward with that shoe next Spring – I’m stocking up while I can!! Thanks for the greatest performance of “MOUNTAIN running!”

That looks like an amazing route. Thanks for sharing. I haven’t found a mountain range yet that I like better than the Wind Rivers.
